2OO8 seems the right time to release a song about 2 players in a game of 8-ball pool. After all, not only are the numbers of 2 and 8 in the year itself, but also the O’s are clearly representing billiard balls.

A lot goes on in the back rooms of bars and clubs—small combos playing their songs or maybe some pool players shooting combos. In the back room at Eddie’s Place, anything can happen.  It’s where combos are made—in music, in pool, and even between players.

"Light Me Up" (See
LYRIC) tells how a female player lays her quarter down on the pool table to take on the next winner.  She likes the vibe of Eddie’s place, the music, and the action, but she also wants more—“Ooh-ooh, light me up, boy, you’re my shooting star, and take me away from this roadside bar.”  Around pool tables a lot more happens than shooting pocket billiards.  If the tables could talk, Hollywood would strain to hear.

Nashville’s six-piece “Back Room Combo” creates an easy-rollin’ country sound in "Light Me Up," the 2OO8 release featuring lead-singer, Kim Parent.  Kim composed the music and then called in some friends of hers around Nashville to record the song at Zoo Studio in nearby Franklin, Tennessee.  After the song was completed, an instrumental  track was cut with Dale Oliver on lead guitar interpreting Kim's melody.  Both the main vocal track and the instrumental guitar remix have elements of the  blues, boogie and rock.  But, after you hear the way Kim Parent puts it all together, it's "country" alright.
